Air Travel Restrictions
Air travel restrictions are established to protect or guard all people travelling locally and internationally. It is necessary that a passenger makes it his or her duty to know about certain rules and restrictions that are enforced when travelling in general.
Restrictions may apply specifically to carry-on. There are some things that cannot be carried with you in your hand luggage. Items/things/objects that are banned from being carried in either hand luggage and checked luggage are always specified in list. Always get in touch with the airline before travelling if you are uncertain about the restrictions that may apply. The following list underlines some of the items that cannot be taken in your carry-on.
- Box Cutters
- Knives with the exception of plastic or rounded butter knives.
- Meat Cleavers
- Baseball Bats
- Bows and Arrows
- Cricket Bats
- Spear Guns
- Ski Poles
- Pool Cues
- Lacrosse Sticks
- Golf Clubs
- Pellet Guns
- Gun Lighters
- Realistic Replicas of Firearms
- Flares
- Ice Axes/Ice Picks
- Razor-Type Blades including box cutters, utility knives, razor blades not in a cartridge. However you may carry safety razors.
- Hockey Sticks
More Prohibited Items and Other Information:
- Cannot take gel candles with you in your carry-on.
- Compressed Air Guns – must be carried in checked luggage without the compressed air cylinder attached.
- In general ammunition may not be allowed in your carry-on. However you may check with your airline. It should be confirmed prior to boarding. You may be further restricted when travelling internationally. You may not be allowed to take any form of ammunition with you.
- You may not take most tools or other weapons in your carry-on.
- Firearms cannot be taken on board with you. It must be checked and unloaded. You may also be turn down to carry any firearm in your checked luggage if travelling internationally.
- Explosives are prohibited including: dynamite, fireworks, hand grenades, blasting caps, plastic explosives, realistic replicas of explosives flares. All of these will be barred from travel. This means you cannot bring them in your carry-on or checked piece(s).
- You are also not allowed to take any form of flammable items on board in your hand luggage or in your checked pieces. Items include: Lighter fluid and fluids, gasoline, aerosol (excluding those for personal use in limited quantities), gas torches. Regular lighters may not be placed in checked bags if they are not empty unless they comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT) exemption, which will allow you to carry two fueled lighters that are adequately enclosed in a DOT approved case. You can carry a small lighter on the plane for personal use in your carry-on.
- Liquids must be placed in a 3 oz (ounce) transparent container. You are not allowed to take anymore than the amount specified.
- Snow globes which contain liquids cannot be carried in your carry-on it may however be checked in with your other luggage.
