Alpine
Alpine was a French car manufacturer producing radical sports cars which very successful on the race track. It was founded by Jean Rédélé in the early 1950s and was one of the few French car companies that achieved success on the race track in the post World War II era. Though Alpine was never amongst the ‘most popular’ list of car makers, it produced more than its share of champion sports cars.

FIAT
Fiat is a brand that has a 110 year history behind it. Founded in 1899 at Palazzo Bricherasio, Fiat then opened its first automobile factory in 1900 in Corso Dante. The instantly recognisable Fiat brand logo was designed and adopted in 1904. The Fiat brand has always believed in excellence and it expanded its services out of Italy in 1908 when it established the Fiat Automobile Company in the USA.

FERRARI
Born with humble beginnings on the outskirts of Modena in Italy on 18th February 1898, the story of Enzo Ferrari is a classic example of rags to riches. After a double setback of the deaths of his father and brother, Ferrari dropped out of school and finds a basic job at Modena to care for his family. Ferrari developed a love for racing at a very early age when his father took him and his brother to a race and he sustained and nurtured this love all his life. This fondness for racing is what led him to make Ferrari the brand that it is today. One of the top racing car manufacturers today, Ferrari has been built lovingly and carefully from nothing to something.

FAW-Volkswagen – “Das Auto”. Sound familiar? May be because the Volkswagen brand is an enduring one, a brand that is synonymous with perfection, persistence and superior design. The Volkswagen brand is known for producing automobiles that stand the test of time. Classy and stylish vehicles are the Volkswagen trademark. The company was founded on May 28th, 1937 and was renamed Volkswagenwerk GmbH on September 16th, 1938. The name is quite a mouthful, but the brand is worth the trouble.

Electrobat
The Electrobat was the first successful electric automobile to ever be created. Mechanical engineer Henry G. Morris and chemist Pedro G. Salom from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania were responsible for this marvel of engineering. With solid backgrounds in battery streetcars, they decided to team up and make battery road vehicles. The Electrobat was the result of their combined efforts. It was patented on August 31, 1894 and it entered production in 1895. It was a slow, heavy vehicle, built like a smaller version of a battery streetcar. Moris and Salom then founded the Morris and Salom Electric Wagon and Carriage Company – the first electric car company in the United States of America.

DIM Motor Company is an automobile manufacturer from Greece. The company was created by Georgios Dimitriadis. He earlier had a company named Bioplastic S.A. which produced the Attica automobile which he transformed into DIM Motor Company.

Build Your Dreams: BYD Auto
Claiming to be the world’s largest automaker by 2025 and aims to be the country’s biggest passenger car maker before 2015, BYD Auto, a Chinese automobile manufacturer was established in 2003. BYD Auto is actually part of a parent IT Company called BYD co Ltd. It is based in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China. They basically manufacture cars that are small and environment friendly. BYD, which stands for build your dreams, began selling the world’s first mass-produced plug-in hybrid vehicles and more over plans to mass produce affordable electric vehicles in time to come.
