Jaguar e-type had ranked first in the list of “100 most beautiful cars” of all time by daily telegraph in March 2008. Particularly a sports car – jaguar e type was a British automobile manufactured by jaguar between 1961 and 1974. It is also called as the jaguar XK-E in us. It has also ranked first in the list of ‘Top Sports Car of 1960’s’ in the Sports Car International Magazine in 2004.
The Jaguar E-Type was basically designed as a two-seater coupé and convertible form. The 2+2 version was designed many years later. The E-Type was basically made in 3 versions referred to as Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3. There were several limited edition variants like Lightweight E-Type a sort of follow up of D- Type and the Low Drag Coupé.
Series 1 was initially produced in mach 1961 was export only; the domestic market launch came after four months in july. Series 1 can be identified by glass covered headlights, signal lights and tail lights above the bumpers. It is believed that the low number of these cars produced relative to other two series makes it the rarest amongst all production e- types.
Series 2 (1969-1971) had distinct features like open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, larger front indicators and taillights below the bumpers etc. It also had factory options like air conditioning and power steering.
Series 3 (1971-1975) was a new 5.3L 12 cylinder Jaguar V12 engine with up rated brakes and standard power steering. This car was available only as convertible and 2+2 coupé. Distinct features of these cars were large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12.

If you truly love classic lines and performance of the car, you will not be able to find a better hobby. This car is distinct. If you have the money to buy one in good condition ($20-$50K) you are in for a great ride.
Let us now come to the three things to be looked over if you are buying an E-type.
