Maruti Suzuki India Limited is one of the largest car manufacturer in South Asia and it is a publicly listed company in India. Maruti Suzuki is a part of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan which holds a majority of shares of the company. It is also the largest car seller in India and it is responsible for the automobile revolution in India.
In Febuary 1981, Maruti Suzuki at the time known as Maruti Udyog Limited was set up in India and in 1983, the production started off with the Maruti 800. At this time yhe only competitors were the Hindustan Ambassador and the Premier Padmini which are both 25 years outdated. This made the Maruti 800 the first modern car made in India.
The Maruti 800 was the best selling car till 2004 right from when it was released in 1983. This gave Maruti Suzuki the reputation of making compact cars. The Maruti Suzuki Alto then followed as the largest selling car in India.
The manufacturing units are located in Gurgoan and Manesar these plants have the capacity of producing over 700,000 units per year.
From 1983, the other car models released were the Maruti 800, the Maruti Omni launched in 1984, Maruti Gypsy launched in 1985, Maruti Alto Launched in2000, Maruti Wagon R launched in 2002, Maruti Versa launched in 2003, Maruti Grand Vitara launched in 2004, Maruti Suzuki Swift launched in 2005, Maruti Suzuki SX4 launched in 2007, Maruti Swift Dzire launched in 2008, Maruti Suzuki A-Star launched in 2008, Maruti Suzuki Ritz launched in 2009 and Maruti Suzuki Ritz launched in 2009.
Almost half of the cars sold in India are Maruti cars and it has always remained in the hearts of every Indian for years to come.
Suzuki Motor Corporation, Maruti Suzuki’s parent company is famous for making mini and compact cars worldwide. This feat is possible by its technical ability to pack power and performance into a compact, lightweight and fuel efficient engine. Authorised service stations are stations which are set up to provide services for the customers and their Maruti cars. These service stations provide services like repairing, car servicing and they help the customers to maintain their cars. Maruti has 2628 service stations across the country and 30 Express Service Stations across 30 highways across the country.
Maruti Insurance was launched in 2002 where Maruti provides vehicle insurance to its customers with the help of many banks and insurance companies like Bajaj Allianz and New India Assurance.
Maruti Finance provides the customers with bank loans for its customers. This also increased the sale of Maruti cars in the country.
Maruti Suzuki was born as a Government venture with Suzuki as its partner to make cars for the Indian citizens. Ownership might have changed but the goal of Maruti Suzuki would remain the same which is to continue making cars for the Indian people.
