Food in such case does not just remain an object of fulfilling and satisfying our hunger, but in fact holds a lot more meaning to it that goes beyond the basic satisfaction of our bellies. It helps people come closer, creates harmony among them; some dishes are meant specifically to be cooked and eaten during special occasions; some recipes originate because of some cultural and traditional influence etc. Therefore food and culture share a very strong connection.  So is the case with the Korean cuisine.

Moxie

MoxieMoxie is one of the first ever carbonated drinks to have been produced on a mass scale in the United States. Till date, it is one of the most famous and most favourite drinks of people out there. It’s funny, but during the initial years after the launch of the drink, Moxie was associated with a patent medicine called “Moxie Nerve Food”. It was said to be invented by a person called Dr. Thompson who said that the drink contained extracts of a rare unnamed South American plant. Thompson even mentioned that the plant was a discovery of his fictional friend Lieutenant Moxie, and that the drink helped in dealing with insomnia and paralysis of the brain.

White Rock Beverages is an American beverage company. The formal name of the company is White Rock Production Corporation. The company is located in Whitestone, New York. The company was established in 1871 by a pharmacist, H.M. Colver in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

In 1871, the founder of White Rock, the pharmacist named H.M. Colver bought the natural spring and its surrounding at White Rock which was 60 acres of land in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The Locals who were Potawatomi Indians and settlers were under the belief that the spring’s sparkling mineral water, which filtered through 1,400 feet of white magnesium rocks, held some medicinal power or value. Laozi, a Chinese philosopher portrayed tea as the elixir of life. He described tea as if it were the froth of liquid jade. According to the legend, Laozi was very saddened to see the degradation of society. So he was journeying to the west, towards the unoccupied territories. Funny Face Drink Mix was started by the Pillsbury Company in 1964. Initially it was started as a diet drink. It was a diet drink because, it contained no sugar but only artificial sweeteners were added to it. Funny Face Drink Mix used calcium cyclamate as a sweetener. But later calcium cyclamate was changed to saccharine because the FDA had banned cyclamates. But then it was promoted by Pillsbury as a children’s drink. Funny Face Drink Mix had a wide range of flavors. Pillsbury gave each of its flavors a unique character or a unique funny face. Due to effective advertising campaigns it appealed to a lot of children. Even parents preferred Funny Face Drink Mix because it contained no added sugar and was a very healthy alternative to carbonated drinks and fruit juices.
