Wrinkles are pretty much feared and hated by everyone, men and women included. They are indicators of ageing and as we all know, no body likes to have signs of ageing on their faces. It has been around quite a long time and with the advent of the new millennium and the rise of more stress and fatigue, wrinkles have really become a chronic problem.
There are various different types of wrinkles. We will try to look at the different kinds of wrinkles prevalent nowadays:
1. Atrophic Crinkling Rhytids
They are fine lines on the face. They run mostly parallel to each other. They are prevalent in different areas of the body but they disappear when the skin is stretched transversally. That means these wrinkles shift when the body posture changes; they are dependent on the body posture. These wrinkles occur due to loss of elasticity. As these wrinkles are due to an underlying loss of collagen, one needs to protect the skin using sun protection cream. Moisturizers can also be used.
2. Permanent Elastic Creases
These are crease lines on the skin. They become increasingly prominent due to sun exposure. These kinds of wrinkles show up most frequently on the cheek, the upper lip and the base of the neck. Sun exposure is the major factor behind this type of wrinkles. So, avoiding the sun is probably the best way to cure this. Using sunscreen is also a good option.
3. Dynamic Expression Lines
These wrinkles are caused due to facial muscle movement. Examples of these are frown lines and crow’s feet. A common example is when one squints at the Sun continuously, wrinkles in the shape of crow’s feet appear on the forehead. These are called crow’s feet wrinkles. Continuous frowning may create frown lines. Even laughter lines have been observed to occur. They are mainly caused due to frequent use of the facial muscles. These kinds of wrinkles respond well to Botox or similar treatments.
4. Gravitational Folds
These wrinkles are mainly due to the cause of gravity on the body. The skin starts to fold and sag. Skin research on the International Space Station has observed that gravity is also a big factor behind wrinkles. The sagging and folding of the skin may also be caused due to gravitational causes. The locations of these wrinkles depend on the thickness of the skin. Though logic suggests that thicker skin would have more of these folds, research has shown that fatter faces may show less gravity lines than a thin one. The only way these can be treated is by undergoing skin-lifting procedures.
It is always better to treat this affliction at your nearest dermatologist. Wrinkles occur on everyone and it does not discriminate. Wrinkles are also a natural result of your skin care process. If you have taken care of your skin from an early age, wrinkles are less likely to appear than if you have completely neglected your skin. However, caring for the skin can never start too late.
