Xperia Pureness

Sony Ericsson Xperia PurenessThe Xperia Pureness is a latest cell-phone released by Sony Ericsson as a part of their Xperia series. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness is probably one of the most unique cell-phones invented. It is similar to the other phones in the Xperia Series (Xperia X1, Xperia X2) in terms of beautifully simplistic looks and futuristic craftsmanship. However the outstanding feature of this device is the transparent display.

The Xperia Pureness was announced in 2009, November and released in the same month itself. It has dimensions of 102 x 43 x 13 mm and weighs only 70 g. Though it is priced pretty heavily, it does not contain the typical features of a normal smartphone.

According to Sony Ericsson, the Xperia Pureness is more a ‘work of art rather than technology’. As mentioned before, the transparent display attracts most of the attention as it is probably the first time this has been attempted. Coming to this feature, the Xperia Pureness display screen is fully see-through with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and dimensions of 1.8 inches. It is a monochrome display, which indicates black and white.

However, there is no camera, nor a QWERTY keypad or browsing options. It boasts of 88 MB of internal memory, Bluetooth A2DP connectivity as well as a USB port.

Another unique feature of this device is the unique concierge service which transforms into a truly elite phone. The phone comes equipped with a 24-hour concierge service, with a team on hand to provide support for all lifestyle requests. In layman terms, this indicates you have a personalized service of offices all over the world that can help you for common tasks like booking a movie ticket, reserving a restaurant. This truly is a novelty, in the cellular industry! It also boasts of a quadband GSM radio which gives it worldwide roaming capabilities while equipped with a NetFront browser.

However, the Xperia Pureness has still in come for a bit of criticism. The phone has a huge price tag, something which puts off a lot of critics. Most critics have pointed out that they do not mind paying extra for features but except for the transparent display, the Xperia Pureness really has no big feature to boast of. Without a camera or a QWERTY keyboard, certainly the price may seem a bit high. However, it can be argued that the Xperia Pureness is not a ‘normal’ phone like others. Sony Ericsson has purposely given it a high price tag to give it certain exclusivity.

Thus, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness is not really a cell-phone but more a work of art. It is a collector’s edition, a cellphone for the connoisseurs and the ones who like the nuances. This phone is for those users who do want to be bogged down with technology and prefer to keep things simple, albeit in a glamorous way. With the high price and the features in hand, the Xperia Pureness looks to appeal to a niche market.
